The contract is for five firm ships plus an option for an additional five vessels of the same capacity, the shipbuilder said.
Scheduled for delivery from 2015 the vessels will be charted to the Taiwan’s Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp on long-term contracts.
Seaspan says Yang Ming will take the ships for an initial ten years with options for a further two.
