Reports that a Torm tanker was hijacked by Somali pirates on Friday are incorrect, TradeWinds has learned.
The Danish owner did, however, see another of its ships narrowly escape hijacking off Kenya.
Numerous media reports indicate that the 47,000-dwt Torm Republican (built 2006) was seized along with its 22 crew members off the Horn of Africa late on Friday.
Pia Loft, Torm’s vice-president, communication, told TradeWinds on Saturday, however, that the Denmark-flagged vessel is not even in the area and was not attacked.
