A UAE-owned bulker has been hijacked by pirates deep in the Indian Ocean on Monday.
The 27,900-dwt Orna (built 1984) is understood not to have been registered with any of the authorities concerned with anti-piracy operations in the region.
The Panama-flagged handysize was fired with rifles and rocket-propelled grenades by pirates in two skiffs some distance north-east of the Seychelles on Monday.
