Italian owner Ignazio Messina has had yet another brush with Somali pirates but once again has come out unscathed.
The Genoa-based company’s 2,850-lane-metre ro-ro Jolly Bianco (built 1982) was approached by pirates some time on Thursday but managed to avoid hijacking.
One report indicates that no shots were fired and that no attempt was made to board the Italy-flagged vessel but another report points to a boarding attempt by heavily-armed attackers.
