Grimaldi Group’s 30,000-gt ro-pax ferry Cruise Smeralda (built 1997) was damaged on Saturday after colliding with a pylon in Italian port of Livorno.

Italian ferry sources say the ship lost steering control while arriving at the port after a voyage from Olbia with approximately 900 passengers on board.

The ship’s subsequent voyage was cancelled while damage was assessed.

The ship’s AIS transponder indicated on Monday morning that it remained moored at Livorno’s ferry terminal.
