A Greek tanker survived a pirate hijacking bid deep in the Indian Ocean on Tuesday afternoon, TradeWinds has learned.
The attack on Goldenport Shipmanagement’s 74,500-dwt Alpine Persefone came a short while after pirates also failed in an attempt to snare a GNMTC suezmax.
Pirates in one skiff tried to clamber onboard the 2008-built Greek products tanker some 760 nautical miles off the Somali coast, a spokesperson for its manager OceanGold Tankers told TradeWinds.
