A Cypriot manager has denied reports that pirates managed to clamber onboard an Egyptian products tanker in a failed hijacking attempt off India on Wednesday.
The 46,100-dwt Norna N (built 1982) was fired on in the Arabian Sea in the early hours of the morning but managed to escape capture.
Numerous sources have told TradeWinds that pirates are believed to have briefly boarded the Panama-flagged vessel as crew hid in a secure onboard citadel.
