The 810t, 33.5 meter wide by11.5 meter high sponson will be one of 14 new sponsons positioned on the vessel’sstarboard side.
Another four will beinstalled on the port side of the ship, which was initially brought upright inSeptember last year.
Thesponsons feature pneumatic systems and strand jacks that reach a height of morethan 20 meters and depth of 10.5 meters.
Earlierin the week, the crane barge Conquest MB1 also arrived at Giglio Island tobegin operations to installing the sponsons.
