The Swedish-flagged 9,100-dwt Sunnanvik (built 1978) got stuck outside Holmsund, the VK website said.
Ballast tanks suffered water ingress, but fuel tanks were intact. The 17 crew were uninjured.
Tugs were ordered to the scene to pull the vessel free.
A hearing was due to be held with the crew on Tuesday as part of an investigation into the incident.
The carrier is managed by Eureka Shipping of Cyprus.
