Malaysia’s Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) has reported a year-on-year jump of 15% in container throughput for 2011.

The Johor-based port said it handled 7.5mteu, but gave no breakdown of the figures.

“This sharp increase was driven by strong organic growth from existing customers as well as volume from new customers,” the Johor-based port said.

Container volume from PTP’s main existing customers, Maersk Line and Evergreen, increased by 16% over the previous year.
