Singapore has facilitated more than 100,000 crew changes since last March, and is currently conducting between 500 and 600 per day.
These latest figures released by Quah Ley Hoon, chief executive of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) should bring comfort to seafarers still trapped at sea.
Quah, who in a Singapore Maritime Week press release described Covid-19 as an “invisible enemy that evolves all the time,” admitted that like everyone else in the world, Singapore entered the pandemic with little idea of how to deal with it.
