Dubai’s DP World has won a deal to run the port of Nanaimo in Canada.
The agreement with Nanaimo Port Authority allows it to operate facilities including the general cargo terminal at Duke Point for three years.
“The two parties are looking at diversifying and pursuing commodities along with short sea shipping of containers to and from Vancouver Island,” it said.
The port also handles cruise ship passengers at a newly built berth opened last year.
