A huge negative swing in tax fortunes and missing compensation payments were largely to blame as Odfjell sank to a loss last year.
The Norwegian owner also saw revenues wane and warned of more possible pain for the products tanker market as rates remain “unsustainable”.
Oslo-listed Odfjell reported a loss of $79m for the 12 months to the end of December as against $121m of profit the year before.
