Yemen’s Houthi rebel group have released the 25-strong crew of the car carrier Galaxy Leader after 14 months of detention, they said in a statement.
The seizure of the Galaxy Leader marked the start of the Houthi campaign against shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. This campaign has sunk two ships, killed four seafarers and added billions of dollars to shipping costs.
