Canada's BC Ferries is planning to add a new ship every year for the next 12 years.
This will cost an average of CAD 70m per vessel, meaning a total outlay of CAD 840m ($651m), according to CEO Mark Collins.
The Victoria Times Colonist was reporting Collins' comments on the shipowner's end of year report.
He said the aim is to have a standardised fleet so that ships become interchangeable, cutting costs.
