Locally-listed Jaya says the 38-year-old has been hired to serve as president of business development and is due to start in early September.
In a statement, the shipbuilder indicated that the appointment will enable its new chief executive, Venkatraman Sheshashayee, to devote more time to strategic planning.
Horsington, who spent more than eight years with Swire and was one of seven candidates vying for a seat with Jaya, will be in charge of expansion, generating new business and marketing the group's shipbuilding and ship repair divisions.
