The US-listed operator says a “major oil company” has hired the semi-submersible drilling rig Eirik Raude (built 2002) for a four-well programme with options.
The contract, which carries an estimated duration of 12 months, will involve drilling off West Africa, it added in a statement Monday.
Including mobilization and demobilization Ocean Rig says the deal is worth roughly $217m. Commencement is expected in the second half of this year upon completion of a project off Ireland.
