Italian shipowner Raffaele Brullo has been cleared of procedural fraud following a fatal tanker collision last year.
The principal of tanker company Augusta Due was placed under house arrest in February as prosecutors investigated an alleged collision between the 11,300-dwt Vulcanello M (built 2006) and a fishing boat called Nuova Iside that killed three men on the smaller vessel.
Brullo was freed by an appeals court on 4 April and the Court of Palermo has now withdrawn the house arrest order completely.
