Safety in the Suez Canal is set to come under investigation as marine insurers prepare to pick up the bill for the six-day drama to refloat the grounded Evergreen Marine-operated, 20,388-teu boxship Ever Given (built 2018).
With the hull of the Ever Given seemingly remaining structurally sound, despite 20,000 teu weighing down on the its keel in a grounded condition, insurers in the Tokyo market are hoping to avoid a $140m payout on the hull.
