Emissions from reefer containers fell by 2.5% per kilometre shipped in 2019 added the group of 17 leading ocean container carriers representing about 85% of global capacity.
Clean Cargo, a collaborative initiative for sustainable cargo shipping managed by social responsibility non-profit BSR, aggregates average trade lane CO2 emissions factors that are compiled from the verified operations data of more than 3,500 vessels.
