China warned on Monday that proposed US port fees for Chinese-owned and built vessels will undermine the authority of the International Maritime Organization to run global shipping affairs.
Hours before public hearings about the proposed fees in Washington DC, China’s delegate to the IMO said the policy would complicate port state control, create extra problems for supervising shipping and jeopardise the welfare of seafarers.
