Greek shipowners have been linked to up to 11 acquisitions of suezmaxes built between 2000 and 2004 over the past three months, representing the overwhelming majority of buyers of such ships in that period.
TradeWinds has already reported how this buying spree has been driven by familiar names, including Adam Polemis' New Shipping, which pounced on tankers sold by non-Greek companies trimming or renewing their fleets, such as Teekay Tankers and Euronav.
