Long-serving James Fisher CEO Nick Henry is retiring next year.
The former P&O man has been with the UK tanker company for 16 years and has been the boss for the last 15.
He will leave at the end of 2019, the shipowner said.
"The notice he has given ensures there is sufficient time to allow a thorough search process to take place, both internally and externally, in order to allow a smooth transition of responsibilities," it added.
