Kawa Shipping has signed a newbuilding contract worth up to $240m for a series of midsize container ships, brokers say.
The Hong Kong-incorporated company has placed orders for three 4,800-teu vessels with Wuhu Shipyard, according to market sources. The deal is said to include an option for a fourth vessel.
The conventionally fuelled newbuildings are believed to cost around $60m each, with deliveries slated for between May and September 2027, brokers said.
