Joint venture Northern Lights has ordered a third liquefied CO2 (LCO2) carrier at Dalian Shipbuilding Offshore Co in China.
Northern Lights, a tie-up among Equinor, Shell and TotalEnergies, said this newbuilding will be a sister ship to the two 7,500-cbm CO2 carriers it already has on order at the yard.
It said the three ships are the world’s largest dedicated LCO2 vessels that are custom-built with pressurised cargo tanks for the transportation of LCO2.
