US-listed Excelerate Energy has inked a newbuilding order with Hyundai Heavy Industries for a single floating regasification and storage unit after signing a letter of intent with the yard for the specialist vessel several months earlier.
Excelerate said the 170,000-cbm FSRU will have a maximum regasification capacity of one billion standard cubic feet per day (1,000 MMscf/d).
The company said it will be kitted out with HHI’s proprietary LNG regasification system, dual fuel engines, selective catalytic reduction system, boil-off gas management, and other innovative technologies which aim to drive improved performance and efficiency while lowering emissions.
