Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries has ended a seven-year contracting drought for pure car/truck carriers (PCTCs) with an order for two LNG dual-fuel newbuildings at a record-breaking price.
The deal also marks South Korea’s first car-carrier order since 2015.
Shipbuilding sources said Israel’s Ray Car Carriers has contracted the Mokpo-based shipyard to build two 7,500-ceu PCTCs worth KRW 294.1bn ($238m), or $119m apiece.
