The number of zero-emission shipping projects underway has nearly doubled in the last year, according to the maritime industry’s Getting to Zero Coalition.
The partnership between the Global Maritime Forum and the World Economic Forum said significantly more projects — up from 106 to 203 — are focused on green ship technologies and alternative fuel production.
The tally, which also includes bunkering and infrastructure schemes, is reported in the coalition’s third update of Mapping of Zero Emission Pilots and Demonstration Projects, which reports an increasing focus on hydrogen-derived fuels.
