The International Salvage Union (ISU) has suspended the membership of state-backed Russian salvage company Marine Rescue Service (MRS).
The ISU said the decision had been taken by its Executive Committee in consideration of Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine and the background of widening international sanctions.
“ISU has taken account of the relationship of MRS to the Russian state; the widespread international condemnation of Russia’s actions and the imposition of strong sanctions against certain Russian interests by, among others, the EU, the United States, Japan and the UK,” the ISU said.
