Two crew suffered injuries as robbers boarded a crude tanker in Venezuela.
The IMB's piracy reporting centre said eight men raided the unnamed vessel on 24 June at the Jose Terminal anchorage.
They assaulted the duty seafarer making security rounds.
Another crewman spotted the men and raised the alarm, injuring himself as he fled.
The alarm and ship's whistle deterred the raid and the thieves escaped.
