Panamax bulker rates take largest lead over capesizes in nearly three years

The average spot rates for panamax bulkers exceeded capsize rates by the greatest amount in almost three years.

The panamax 5TC, which uses five key routes, came in at $17,224 on Wednesday, when the gap was its largest point of the week. That was almost three times higher than the capesize 5TC figure of $5,826 per day on the same day.
