Carsten Rehder is bolstering its dry bulk business with another handysize purchase, while further slimming down its container ship division.
The German shipowner has emerged as the buyer of the 37,200-dwt Ocean Opal (built 2012) from Daiichi Chuo Kisen Kaisha of Japan.
The vessel, to be renamed Lima Strait, was reported sold in September for $18.2m.
It is the third bulker Carsten Rehder has bought this year.
