Pertamina, the driving force of the Indonesian tanker sector, has pledged to spend $4bn over the next seven years improving the environmental footprint of its operations.
Wisnu Santoso, director of business planning at subsidiary Pertamina International Shipping, told Reuters that the company plans to use the cash to replace 23 vessels, refurbish others and upgrade terminals to ensure compliance with the latest International Maritime Organization standards.
