Costamare keeps growing its presence in the bulker market after an initial purchase of 16 ships it announced earlier this month.
Market sources in Piraeus identified the Constantakopoulos family-backed outfit as buyer of the 34,600-dwt Malen (built 2011). A manager at New York-listed Costamare confirmed the information.
TradeWinds reported on the deal on Wednesday, before the buyer was known.
Brokers initially reported that Chinese interests bought the vessel from Greece’s Kristen Marine for $14.2m.
