Dock workers at Kenya’s main port of Mombassa have been assured by port officials that privatisation plans have been shelved.

According to local news reports, strike action was called off following a meeting between union officials, the Kenyan Port Authority (KPA) and members of parliament. KPA managing director Gichiri Ndua is reported as saying that plans to privatise the port have been shelved.
