Mitsui OSK Lines’ 138,000-cbm LNG Pioneer (built 2005) saved the lives of 27 people this week when it went to the aid of a boat carrying Sri Lankan refugees trying to reach Australia.
The asylum-seekers’ boat sank in a storm in the Indian Ocean on Sunday 2700 kilometres off north-west Australia. LNG Pioneer and a fishing vessel responded to calls for help.
