Relatives of more than 1,000 passengers and crew who died when a ferry sank in the Red Sea more than 14 years ago have been permitted to bring a case for damages against Italian classification society RINA in Italy.

The 11,800-gt Al Salam Boccaccio 98 (built 1970) sank in February 2006 in the Red Sea as it was heading to Egypt from Saudi Arabia, claiming more than 1,000 lives.
