Midsize maritime insurer West of England has emerged as one of the biggest gainers of tonnage among protection and indemnity clubs with a 10% rise over the last year.
The club went from 100m gt to 110m gt of mutually owned tonnage, most of it from existing members growing their fleets or from securing a bigger share of ships divided between insurers by large shipowners, said CEO Tom Bowsher.
