The Norwegian government has given the green light for work to start on what would be the world's first ship tunnel.
The Norwegian Coastal Administration (NCA) said it has now received a letter of assignment from the ministry of transport and communications, allowing preparations to begin.
Construction work estimated to cost NOK 2.8bn ($334m), excluding value added tax, could begin in 2022 on the Stad Ship Tunnel.
