When plans for Millennium Bulk Terminals died after its owner went bankrupt, it was another nail in the coffin of coal exports from the western US to Asia.
Lighthouse Resources, a Utah-based owner of coal mines in Wyoming and Montana, pulled the plug on a $680m export terminal in Washington state after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in December.
