Energy and commodities company Vitol has signed up for a series of up to eight very large gas carriers (VLGC) at Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).
The deal runs to two firm 84,000-cbm newbuildings are scheduled for delivery in 2019.
A further six VLGCs are included as options in the contract.
Pricing details have not been disclosed but shipbuilding players suggest it to be around $75m per ship.
