Shell and Brevik win DNV approval in principle for large liquefied CO2 carrier

Classification society DNV has given approval in principle to Shell International Trading and Shipping Co and naval architects Brevik Engineering for the design of a 74,000-cbm liquefied CO₂ carrier.

DNV said the vessel is specifically designed for the Asia Pacific market to enable cost competitive transport of CO₂ where emitters in countries like Japan, South Korea and Singapore are looking at exporting their volumes for storage in the region.
