One of the studies by an external consultants on LNG fuelling's greenhouse gas emissions has shown it can lead to a 21% reduction over the entire chain, from gas production to burning the product in the engine.
Industry lobby group SEA\LNG and non-governmental organisation the Society for Gas as a Marine Fuel (SGMF)'s Well-to-Wake study shows that the emissions reduction benefits for LNG-fuelled engines compared with those running on heavy fuel oil today are between 14% to 21% for 2-stroke slow speed engines.
