Charter rates for LNG carriers are standing at “very strong levels” and with spot levels at risk of peaking at top dollar levels again towards the end of the year, according to shipbroker Clarksons Research.
In its Shipping Intelligence Weekly report, analyst Oliver Stavinidis said at the end of June the one-year rate assessment for an 160,000-cbm dual-fuel diesel-electric LNG carrier stood at a “very strong” $120,000 per day, having remained above the $100,000-per-day level throughout the past 12 months.
