The cost of a passage through the Panama Canal hit its highest level this year in May.
The average auction fee paid by a VLGC at the waterway’s neopanamax locks reached $1.09m in May, according to data cited by OPIS from agent Boyd Steamship and the Panama Canal Authority.
The hike came as drought restrictions were eased and delays decreased towards the end of the month.
