BP has chartered a 15-year-old LNG carrier after handing it back to its leasing bank at the end of an earlier charter.
Industry sources said the energy major has fixed the 138,000-cbm steam-turbine Merchant (ex-British Merchant, built 2003) until mid-May at a rate of less than $50,000 per day.
The rate would appear to indicate the deal was concluded some time ago, as levels have risen sharply in the past month.
