Iraq has exported its first ever gas cargo in an important boost to its revenues.

A Panamanian-flagged carrier left on Sunday from Umm Qasr with a 10,000-cbm cargo of condensates, AP reported.

The cargo was sold by Basra Gas Company, a joint venture involving Iraq’s state run South Gas Co, Shell and Mitsubishi.

Iraq’s oil ministry spokesman Assem Jihad confirmed the shipment, but has not disclosed a buyer or price.
