Hyundai Heavy Industries is said to have scored its first-ever very large ethane carrier (VLEC) newbuilding contract.
Well-placed shipbuilding sources said the South Korean shipbuilder has secured an order for up to six 93,000-cbm ethane ships believed to be booked by US private equity firm Delos Shipping.
The sources added that the newbuilding contract, for three firm vessels and three options, was signed at the end of last month.
