A ban on the transshipment of Russian LNG in European Union ports for onward export to third countries has come into force today after it was first unveiled last June.
The EU measures also prohibit providing technical support, brokerage services and financing for transshipment operations.
In an exception, EU states can allow transshipment services if they are deemed necessary for energy supply within the bloc and provided the LNG is transported to an EU country.
