The bulker and tanker owner booked a net profit of JPY 1.18bn ($12m) for the period, up 61.6% from JPY 730m during the second leg of 2012.
Operating profit for the three months to 30 June jumped more than three-fold to JPY 312m.
Revenue came in 10.7% higher at JPY 6.1bn.
